
It rains, it shines, it rains, it shines but the theatre scene must go on. . . we dogs know of what we speak when our master is in the Showbiz…and April is the time when many local groups launch their seasons. . ..there’s a lot of outstanding entertainment beginning in April. . . if you saw and enjoyed the MPC Theater Company opening season production of FUNNY GIRL starring Gracie Moore Poletti you will want to rush to see PacRep’s musical laugh riot FORBIDDEN BROADWAY featuring that same Poletti paired with three other well-known artists, Lydia Lyons, Reg Huston and Scott McQuistin. . . the show plays April 7 through May 1. Stephen Moorer directs. . . .and speaking of PacRep, two plays will be featured in their Circle Theater in May and June. . . Previews begin for EURYDICE on May 13 and for A NUMBER on May 20. . . after that date the two shows play in repertory through June 16 . Kenneth Kelleher directs both. . .. . 622-0100.
Over at MPC Theatre Company they have now moved off campus while their main stage undergoes a major overhaul. . .first up for the band of roving thespians is GREESE at the new Carmel High School Performing Arts Center in a production co-directed by Gary Bolen and Michael Jacobs. . .it plays from April 7 through April 17. . . meanwhile MPC’s Storybook Theatre does PIXIES, KINGS AND MAGICAL THINGS at the still operating Studio Theatre on campus. . .this one is directed by Carey Crockett. . . .then Storybook Theatre moves off campus to perform at Carmel Middle School with BEOWOLF, directed by Mickie Mosley, in September 646-4213. . .theatre location juggling is now underway for both PacRep and MPC.
Carmel’s Forest Theater begins it season under the stars with the Forest Theater Guild production of PETER AND THE WOLF on May 26 – June 19, directed by Ken Cussion.. . .the Guild has come up with a new take on this classical children’s story. . .the play version will be done in the first act then a dance version, choreographed by Gloria Elber and Reed Scott will make up the second act. . . 646-1681. . .we’ll write more about the rest of the Forest Season Theater, with productions from PacRep and the Guild with MPC Theatre Company in our next column.
